The Mission Statment
The Mission of this new museum is to collect for exhibit and study, the records, photographs, and examples of the entire American Cutlery Industry.
This industry especially flourished in Southwestern New York and Northern Pennsylvania for nearly 200 years and still has a vibrant presence here. Included in museum displays will be artifacts, photography, records, and written and oral history from all eras of American History, including the present day. Also included in displays will be cutting tools of history that may have been manufactured elsewhere, but have played a prominent role in our nations history. Items for sale in the museum gift shop will be of American manufacture only.
The American Museum of Cutlery is a non profit organization whose charter has been approved by the New York State Board of Regents and the New York Education Department and is operated under the auspices of The Historic Southwestern New York Foundation Inc.
